City of the madresahs - Qom and Naghsh-e Jahan - Esfahan


The Shah Square in Esfahan is one of the biggest city squares in the world and an outstanding example of Iranian and Islamic architecture. It has been designated by Unesco as a World Heritage Site. Qom is considered to be a holy city in Shia Islam, as it is the site of the shrine of Fatima , sister of Imam Reza, (789–816 A.D.). The city is the largest center for Shi'a scholarship in the world, and is a significant destination of pilgrimage.
