China-Uniforms

Just before landing in Beijing, a video was shown on the plane. In that video passengers were reminded what kind of materials were not allowed to bring into the country. The officials in that clip looked stern and efficient and on top of that, they used a sniffer dog that appeared to geared to sniff out cheese. He was hopping from trunk to suitcase, happily indicating the one with the cheese. I was carrying at least a pound of the stuff and I didn't feel like paying the considerable fine, so I got rid of our cheese before customs. Which were not even there at 5.30 AM. I was reminded of my exagerrated obedience many times by my cheese adoring companion.
I guess I'm easily impressed by uniforms, and there's many of them about all over the country, as you may have picked up from the news...

Friendly bloke at the Summer Palace.

Sometimes up to 6 traffic wardens regulate affairs at big crossroads. The gentlemen above in the blue shirts are higher ranking than the ones in green shirts, who are often embarrassingly ignored by everyone.

Traffic warden setting up camp along a Xi 'An road.

Another Xi'An traffic warden.

And another one.

These two fellows guard the consulate of Iran in Shanghai.

No funny stuff at the terracotta warrior's place, or else...

Guards at an Olympic event.

You may think this is in a small town in the Provence. Close enough, it's the French Concession in Shanghai.

Three graces at the Summer Palace.

This chap smelled the cheese smell off our dutch bones even after a cheeseless month.

"O.k. pack it up and leave, nothing to see around here!"
